On March 17, 2015 my Black-Blue Pelikan M605 (0.7mm Stub) joined its comrades when it was filled with Rohrer & Klingner Scabiosa. The pen was in use for 2 weeks and was emptied and cleaned on April 3, 2015, saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

I’ve really wanted to try this ink, as the photos I have seen of it have been attractive. I’ve also wanted to see it in this pen, as for some reason I have considered my Pelikan to be my iron gall ink pen. Hopefully I do not some day come to regret that decision.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

Scabiosa is a lovely purple, possibly a perfect purple. I had no flow issues in the pen, and it cleaned up remarkably well. The ink is redolent of maple syrup, which is pleasant if not pavlovian (I often craved waffles while using this pairing). I enjoyed this ink so much that I bought a bottle.
