Dutch Grey Meets German Blue

Wherein my Black-Blue Pelikan M605 (0.7mm Stub) is paired with Akkerman #29 Hofvijver Gris.

On my Black-Blue Pelikan M605 (0.7mm Stub) joined its comrades when it was filled with Akkerman #29 Hofvijver Gris. The pen was in use for 3 months and was emptied and cleaned on , saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

I’ve long wanted to try Akkerman’s ink, purely because the bottles strike my fancy. The rational part of me screams that I should buy an empty bottle, but the part that likes new things would rather get a bottle full of ink. And so it is time I try their ink! I also wanted to get my Pelikan M605 back in service to give it a full work-out to see if I still like it in light of my feelings for my M805. I hit upon the idea of inking up both of my Pelikans but filling my blue Pelkian with grey ink, and my grey Pelikan with blue ink. It should be fun!

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

This ink amazed me so much I bought a bottle. I do not have many grey inks, and honestly had figured I found the only grey ink I would ever want with Noodler’s Lexington Grey, but I was wrong. This ink reminds me of a grey slate chalkboard, and when used on white paper I find myself happily amused at the inverse (grey ink on white paper rather than white chalk on grey chalkboard). The ink flowed very well in my M605 as well. I smoothed out the tiniest of burrs in the nib and suddenly the pen is fun to use. I definitely enjoyed this combination and could see myself using it again.
