On July 25, 2020 my Purple TWSBI Diamond 580AL (IF) joined its comrades when it was filled with TWSBI 1791 Royal Purple. The pen was in use for one year and was emptied and cleaned on May 23, 2022, saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

I do have two purple Diamond 580s, one an AL the other an ALR. The AL looked to be closer in saturation to this ink, so I made my choice. I’ve been missing having a purple ink in rotation, so I’m excited for this combination.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

I’m not sure what to say about this pen and ink combination. The pen itself is great, as that model has always been. The ink hit me as “just purple” and I found that I didn’t reach for it as often as I would other colors. I like purple inks, but there’s something about this one that made it take quite some time to write dry.
