On February 14, 2016 my Red Kaweco Ice Sport (Fine) joined its comrades when it was filled with Kaweco Ruby Red. The pen was in use for 4 months and was emptied and cleaned on June 30, 2016, saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

My wife gave me this Kaweco fountain pen set as a Valentine’s Day gift. Naturally I wanted to use it right away, and so I did. I’ve enjoyed my Kaweco Classic Sport so I expect I’ll enjoy this version as well. I’m sure looking at a cartridge through the transparent barrel will grow old, but I anticipate the day when I convert it to an eyedropper filler. I have wanted to try Kaweco’s Ruby Red ink, so I’m excited and looking forward to using this combination.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

Red is red is red, right? This is something special. It’s red, but I think they named it right, because it feels more ruby than vermillion or crimson. I look forward to using this ink again. As for the pen, it’s fun and sporty, and I like the fit and size, but the nib skipped quite a bit. I plan on grinding this one down to an italic so that process should also resolve any skipping.
