Red Fire (and ice)

Wherein my Fire and Ice Franklin-Christoph Model 40P (IM) is paired with Akkerman #17 Staaten-Generaal Rood.

On my Fire and Ice Franklin-Christoph Model 40P (IM) joined its comrades when it was filled with Akkerman #17 Staaten-Generaal Rood. The pen was in use for 4 months and was emptied and cleaned on , saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

It’s time to give my Akkerman inks a try. I’ve also wanted to get my Model 40P back in rotation and it just so happens I have a red Akkerman ink. “Boom” as they say.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

I loved this ink so much that I bought a bottle. It interacted with the italic nib in my Model 40P beautifully, leaving the right amount of shading behind. It also looked spectacular in the pen. It doesn’t exactly match the red of the cap, but it’s close enough that I really don’t mind. I fully expect this combination will come around again. The only reason I didn’t refill the pen is that I have a handful of new pens I’ve yet to try out, and a few more on the way, so I need to make room in my rotation.
