On May 4, 2025 my Denim Lamy Al-Star (IF) joined its comrades when it was filled with Monteverde Jolly Roger. I refilled it once; the last refill was on August 14, 2025. The pen was in use for 6 months and was emptied and cleaned on November 25, 2025, saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

I thought I had enough blue Lamy Al-Stars, but the translucent orange section on this one caught my eye and I decided to treat myself. I also picked up a bottle of Monteverde’s Jolly Roger ink. I think it will contrast nicely with this pen.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

Something about the nib on this pen interfered with my enjoyment, so this got used less than I had hoped. The pen itself is attractive. The ink is just okay. It’s not special in any way that I can perceive.
