Idyllic Solferino

Wherein my Ghost Koi Scriptorium Pens Idyll prototype (IM) is paired with Rohrer & Klingner Solferino.

On my Ghost Koi Scriptorium Pens Idyll prototype (IM) joined its comrades when it was filled with Rohrer & Klingner Solferino. The pen was in use for one week and was emptied and cleaned on , saying good-bye to its fellows.

Thoughts Before Filling

I bought a sample of Solferino because the color looked appealing, and my wife showed some interest in it as well. Shortly after arriving I saw a photo on Instagram (by @pentulant) that suggested the color was close to Yama-budo, which I previously had in the pen, and loved. The pen itself has a strong purple tone to it, and I wanted to keep with that color scheme.

Thoughts After Cleaning the Pen

I didn’t use the entire converter of ink. After writing a few lines with it I opted to empty the converter back into the sample container for later use. The color doesn’t fit the time of year and my current mood. It’s cheerful and bright, feminine even, and reminds me something of Private Reserve’s Plum. Being December I’m thinking of cooler colors, and a muted palette, with turquoise being my only exception. So for now I’ll set it aside, to later compare it to other purples of its kind, and hopefully my wife will get a chance to sample it soon.
